DREAM WEDDING

Clinking, tinkling glasses.

Aromatic whiffs of fragrances, so delicious, that with every breath, you’re drawn closer to a welcome drunkenness.
Soft, graceful butter-yellow whispers of light, bouncing off of creams, pinks, golds, a scarlet, a sky here and there.
A beam of teeth. A bridge of teeth.

BEFORE I DIE

Such a relief!
Prison is hell, unbearable and a crawling animal is more useful and has liberty.
I was behind bars and entangled in this world’s tabernacles
Oh my God, I have wasted my youthful days
Oh my poor soul, what have I done to you.
I was blessed with wisdom but instead I effortlessly used it for earthly things.
I was such a fool I could have used my house as a place for believers to worship God instead of organizing events for people to engage in immoral acts.
Blessed is the man that mediates on the laws of God day and night, hmm my day and night was used for shopping, searching every needle hole for the latest fashion trends to take pictures.

THE MEN WE MARRY

BIGGA BREAKFAST

Always staring at the door
Even in my slumber, my eyes are widely open and ears are very sensitive, anxious to rush to that door and get that warmth welcome and kiss from my man.
I sleep walk to check if the fire is ablaze, water in the pot is enough for his bath and his food is safe from rodents.
I wake up to prepare his breakfast and pack his bag before the first preacher’s siren is heard.

GOD IS GOD

Gye Nyame (Only God)

He wakes up the world every morning
He listens to their prayers and attends to the needs of those who patiently wait and have faith in him.
He does not discriminate as some parents intentionally abandon their wards to struggle for green pastures.
The air blows everywhere for all creatures even the plants in the soil.
He provides water even in the dessert just as he did for Hagar and her son.
Even in the darkness, he activates our others senses to work effectively to direct us.
When all hopes is gone and we found ourselves in the lion’s dungeon or in the shark belly, He provides a way for us.

THE MASKED MAN

He talks like a parrot, very eloquent and pleasing to the ears like the sound of a flute but very deceiving like the weather and a package of lies.
His words are twisting and brainy like playing chess, optimistic and convincing like the future.

Just like a dog, he throws up and licks it. Look at him and analyse his promises, as dry and empty as an abandoned dessert.

He smells your vulnerability, bites and sucks it like a vampire leaving you to die. Interestingly he ambitiously tricks you to deport your family.
Just like a lizard excretes black and white feces, consider him as the magic man: everything he gives has a price.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT

My hands were tied in chains coiled around a pillar
My left eye was gushed out; dark thick red blood flowed like honey
My right, however, managed to cry real tears,
I was completely naked; the guard was titillated, went for an abandoned stool and sat right in front of me.
He stared directly into my eyes for some minutes….
He held my nipples and twisted them as though he were casting a dice.
And gradually grabbed my tits, as is he was receiving a Grammy.

MY ASHANTI QUEEN

I have seen your smile;
Your lips veined in a crescent
And your gaze, a twinkle
Fixing me benumb

My Ashanti Queen
Under your spell I wait
As you weld my heart,
Fusing my hub
To your heart of gold

As you induct me
Upon manifold tales of your glance:
Forlorn and torn
Mournful and lorn

IN A MINUTE

The phone rang and my heart beats increased
The once cheerful voice I loved to listened everyday stammered
The thoughts were crumbled, entangled and I shivered
The soulless shadow moved fast, bidding good bye, re echoing over and over to my troubled ears
The wind whirled when I peeped through the windows
Holding the handset, I gasped; fear and sorrow embraced me as if at the sight of a roaring lion
Sweat gradually dripping to my feet.

REDEMPTION

Where did you come from?
Life unexpected journey made me vulnerable
Victim of bully, child labour, peer pressure and prey to men and women
Drugs and alcohol was my best allies to forget my plight after hovering my body on the scorching sun to make ends meets.
Sleep is for relaxation but night time is meant for learning
Eradication of poverty through hard work was accompanied by frequent suspension and dismissal
Ties were loose, no friends for the poor and the gentle voice was lost
